Open your mind to the possibility that your body is incredible and capable of amazing things. Go beyond simple mental and physical fitness and to be truly healthy requires nurturing and developing of your 'inner self'. Losing weight is important, but it's easier to lose weight when you are feeling more nurtured on the inside. Here are some great ways to connect to your 'inner self' again.

Connectedness
Get to know people socially don't spend all your time on the internet. Research has shown having fewer than 4 to 6 friends causes problems for your body systems especially having more colds and other illnesses. This is because loneliness can cause chemical changes in your body, making you more susceptible to illness.

Nature
Living in today's world, it's easy to forget that the salmon came from the sea not your local supermarket. You need to get out into nature and I'm not meaning the pay TV channel 'Discovery' either. Research has suggested that a deep connection with nature is important for your well-being. You need to see nature as a precious resource, don't take it for granted. The best way to do this is to immerse yourself in it. Take your time to 'smell the roses', go for a nature walk, a run in the park or visit an aquarium. Look up at the sky and see the precious things called stars, appreciate them without thinking at all. Through appreciating and immersing yourself in nature you can enhance your mental alertness, attention, and cognitive performance. Don't take nature for granted, it's not just about enjoying nature, it's about connecting with it.

Meditation
Meditation teachers you to pay attention to your body, being present in the 'moment' and cultivating the art of mindfulness of your inner self. It has been suggested that meditation improves stress through; relieving muscle tension, decreasing respiratory rate, assisting with your heart rate and blood pressure, boosting immunity and being more restful. Meditation is so diverse there will be a form just right for you. Test some different forms out and pick the one you like. This way you are more likely to continue on with the routine of meditation regularly. There are many times throughout the day you can practice meditation for example taking a walk, before falling asleep or just taking some deep breaths, it doesn't have to take too long just regular practice.

Pursue your Hobbies
Pursing a hobby gives you creativity and the ability to explore another side of yourself. Studies have shown people who pursue hobbies or interests enjoy a more positive mood, feel less anxious and are less depressed, making you a happy and healthier person.

When choosing a Hobby ensure it is challenging and interesting enough but not too challenging that it makes you frustrated. By the way watching TV is not hobby! Try a new hobby today and get 'hooked'!

There are so many longtime benefits from looking after the 'inner you' By taking time out and having 'you' time will optimally provide a happier and healthier you. Through practicing some or all that are mentioned above will assist you not only in your weight loss but in your ability to be a confident and 'fresher' person on the inside as well. It's just like washing your car but leaving it dirty on the inside. Every time you get into the car it gets you down. However when it is clean both on the inside and out, you get a feeling of 'wow' this is great! Our bodies are no different look after your body both inside and out.
