You might have known of lacrosse as a the sport becoming more and more popular not only in Canada and North America but also in European countries like France and England. This sport is mainly played with a small, hard ball and a stick which players call the crosse. The crosse has a basket-like scoop which shall catch and throw the balls. If you are well-versed with sports like hockey, soccer and basketball, then you will most likely develop a fondness for this sport. You may even consider joining beginner lacrosse camps in Virginia to get better.

Traditionally, this sport was played by amateurs attending colleges or high schools only. Participants can be females or males. Nonetheless, a school may also organize a co-ed version of the sport. This is called the intercrosse. Some academies even include this in their curriculum for primary, junior or secondary education students. You need not be strong or huge for the sport, unlike in football and basketball. Expect lots of running so stamina will be something important.

Men will need to position themselves in fields 110 yards in length, 60 yards in width. They will have to endure games lasting an hour at college levels. There will be a 10 minute half time for every game and each quarters will last 15 minutes. Teams need to have 10 players. There shall be one goalie, 3 defensemen, 3 midfielders and 3 attack men.

The sport initially starts with a face-off at the center. This is the same as soccer. Goalies are the only players with the permission to have physical contact with the balls. Even when this sport is rendered the contact type, personal or technical fouls will still be called out in case players exhibit unusual roughness. Stick checking will also result to fouls.

If you are planning to pursue a serious career with this sport, then it is important that you become a lot better at playing this game. You might want to consider joining a training camp. Because the sport has become so popular, many camps are now being organized for training enthusiasts. The challenge will not be on finding one camp but on joining a camp that is able to train you real good.

Approaching educational institutions that include Lacrosse in their PE curriculum would be the best bet for knowing about what camps have been put up for the sport in the area. Instructors and trainers in the PE department will surely be knowledgeable in the field. They might even be able to recommend the best ones and stir players away from the bad ones.

It is not uncommon to find some schools that will organize their own training camps. Many will consider this to initiate their players to become a lot better in the sport. Trainers may provide training without charging participants anything. However, official players will be mandated to attend these all the time.

When you go through your search for a good training ground, do not forget to consider reputation. It would be a better approach to seek recommendations instead. Ask the renowned players in your area where they have been trained. This will result to you getting several good options.

Lacrosse camps in virginia that have been independently organized may require fees from participants though. Players must make sure that they are able to afford these imposed fees before joining. They should also inquire beforehand what other requirements they are necessary to fulfill for the training.
