Knowing that you need to exercise to lose weight and stay fit is not enough; you have to step out of your chair and actually engage in exercises for you to become fit and trim.

However, just like in other endeavours of life, the road to successful exercising may not be smooth; there are various excuses that your environment will throw at you to discourage you from exercising and it will take very strong determination and accurate information for you to overcome these excuses.

Therefore, we are going to be looking at the following excuses that will likely crop up when you want to exercise and discover how you can overcome them:

Excuse 1- "I do not enjoy exercising"

One of the excuses that people give for not exercising well enough is that exercises are boring. However, for you to gain maximally from exercises, you must enjoy and feel good about your exercises. In fact, some renowned sports psychologists have said that we should treat exercises like sex.

If you want to enjoy working out, you must engage in a physical activity that you love; you should think outside the box and really get creative with your choice of exercises. You can try unconventional exercises like skating, gardening or even dancing. You can also look for exercise partners that you can exercise together because when you workout with other people you encourage each other.

Also, always be on the lookout to discover more exciting ideas that you can use to exercise.

Excuse 2- "I really do not like too much activity"

If you are the type that would rather sit down at home to read books or watch television, you could engage in minimally intensive workouts like going for a walk in the mall. Also, if you do not really like the idea of engaging in intensive exercises that will make you sweat and pant, you can work out indoors with the air conditioner switched on. You can also engage in swimming.

For some other fat people, the main reason why they do not want to exercise outside is because they feel too shy to expose their fat body; such people can make use of an exercise video to workout indoors.
Furthermore, if you are the type of overweight woman that does not feel comfortable exposing too much of your body to the public which is inevitable if you want to exercise in the proper sports clothing, you can go to a gym that admits only women to workout.

Excuse 3- "I am tired of failing again and again"

One of the best ways to overcome exercise failure is by setting small achievable goals for yourself, especially during the early stages of your exercise programme. Once you attain those small achievable goals like exercising for 5 minutes every day for a week, you will develop the confidence to aim for higher goals like increasing your exercise sessions to 10 minutes every day.

You can also create a Facebook fan page for your workout sessions where you post a log of all your exercises for everybody to see and comment on; if you can invite your family and friends to this page, they would most likely post encouraging comments every time they see your daily achievements.
