By Arline Bradley

The health conscious trend has gripped humanity overnight. Ever since the discovery that a healthy lifestyle can make one live longer, more and more people have taken the road to fitness. When one is fit, he or she will be able to live longer and enjoy more. Upon this realization, supplements have flooded the market, promising improved health.

There are food supplements that promise results, but nothing can really substitute exercise. It is an activity needed by the body to get rid of the extra calories that can lead to serious health issues. There are many forms of exercise. One can apply for membership at the gym. One can do yoga. One can get into a sport of his or her choice. Or, you can go and explore the world through hiking, trekking, or even camping. And while you are at it, you must keep in mind to don the appropriate toggi attire to ensure optimum protection without compromising ease.

Your ensemble must be well suited to the type of outdoor activity you are planning in mind. One favorite outdoor activity is hiking. This entails walking down trails to reach a destination. You have to take vigorous steps along the way. There are trails that can be finished in a day, and there are those that will take more days.

Trekking, another outdoor activity, is an adventurous journey wherein a trekker makes his way through areas where usual modes of transportation are absent. Sometimes even a trail is unavailable, unlike hiking that follows a predisposed trail. A trekker usually packs light, too, about twenty five percent of his total body weight.

Camping, on the other hand, is a recreational activity that is done outdoors. Campers spend one or more nights outdoors at a campsite. Most of them sleep inside a tent or a trailer home. Some just lie down the cold earth. This is also popular among scouting activities, and is used to teach young children self reliance and unity.

During your time outdoors, a lot of unexpected instances can happen. For your ease and comfort, it is recommended that you carry a pack that weighs to only about a quarter of your total body weight. To be able to do this, do away with what is unnecessary and pack only those that are important. Basics are food and water, matches, flashlight, a change of clothes and sleeping mat.

You also have to learn to wear layered clothing. This provides you with more protection than thick layer. The innermost layer is the base layer. It should keep you dry and comfortable. The most appropriate materials are those made out of lightweight polyester or other same synthetic materials. You may also use wool.

The second cover is the insulation layer. This is worn over the base to trap body heat to keep you warm even when it is cold outside. Ideal materials for this layer is fleece and the like. You must wear snug fitting clothing for insulation rather than loose ones. The latter may allow the heat to escape.

The final cover is the weather protection. These are mostly water proof garb that functions to protect you from the harsh weather outside. But, you must also make sure that the material is also breathable so that you do not feel uncomfortably hot underneath all these layering. The last level should have the right mix of protection and comfort.
