0 Are You Inadvertently Sabotaging Your Diet?

By Margaret McCracken

Everybody knows that the most beneficial foods we can take in are whole grains, lean meats and healthy fats. These foods load us with protein and also energy. They keep our bodies nutritionally balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to lose our fat at the gym. Did you know, though, that a few of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly fine by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They could possibly be even adding calories to your body! Here are some of the foods that you might be consuming which are hurting your efforts to lose weight.

Sports Drinks do not really help you. You've probably been told that if you want to help your body replenish itself after a work out, you should drink a sports drink. Most medical doctors concur, however, that if your workout is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks could absolutely weaken your diet plan because they are filled to the brim with sugar, empty calories and artificial colors and flavors. Choose chocolate milk for your beverage as a substitute. The sugar in chocolate will help your muscles start to repair themselves plus the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip the protein shakes. Lots of people believe that ingesting a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. What you're actually doing, especially if the remainder of your diet consists of whole and healthy foods, is helping your body overdose on protein. No matter what others believe, protein is not stashed in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. This means that if you have already taken in too much protein that day, your system will basically store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat is not very healthy at all. You likely think that a sandwich that is produced from pre-packaged lean deli meat and whole grain bread is a pretty good lunch. The truth is that pre-packaged deli meat is crammed full of preservatives along with about a third of your advised daily sodium intake. This might be particularly tricky if you are prone to heart disease. Rather than getting pre-packaged deli meat, pick some home cooked chicken or the deli meats that is freshly sliced at your deli counter. Sure these kinds of selections are more expensive but they are much healthier for you in the long run.

There are lots of things that we imagine are much healthier than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask a medical expert which food items are right for you and then consume those. If you are mindful about precisely what you take in and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
